bmiBaby sold - but to who?

A couple of days ago bmiBaby was sold to a unknown company. The airline will not publish details on the sale however Jet2 and Monarch have declined buying budget low cost airline. Other airlines such as easyJet and Flybe declined to comment. The airline uses Boeing 737-500 and 737-300 type aircraft and operates from 32 European destinations from 3 main airports which are Belfast, Birmingham & East Midlands Airport. Many people are clueless, and some are suggesting that it has been brought by a non-aviation company. Previously the airline was brought from Lufthansa to International Airlines Group (IAG) for just over £170 million. Experts said that the airline 'never made a profit since founded in 2002'.

Who might it be then?
(my opinion)

Virgin - Only have international flights, and wanted bmi before sold to IAG. - Seems very promising.
easyJet - Probably not as they removed all Boeing 737s and got Airbus A320 family type aircraft.
Flybe - Could be expanding to the medium-haul market as they only serve in the short at this moment.
Thomas Cook - Unlikely however in a lot of debt and may need to pay it off by buying another airline?
Thomson - Currently changing 767s/757s with 787s which costs alot so maybe not.
Jet2 - Maybe? Lowcost and have older 737s in their fleet.

On the 4th of January 2012, more information on the release of Microsoft Flight was uploaded to their website. This included another video, 7 more photos (most of the Icon A5), and press release. Flight Simmers are extremely happy about the software/game being free but many are switching to X-Plane because they don't like having to buy aircraft and scenery when having got the game on their computers already. Also X-Plane has another advantage because of it being compatible with Mac OS rather than just on Windows based computers. Moving on from the negatives because I'm sure this game has more positives than FSX. One of the games 'great' new features is the career mode, and you complete your career on the game by flying various missions and flights. They also can connect to 'LIVE' and play with friends and people all around the world. No more disconnecting errors because 'gamespy' has gone and here is LIVE. The new exciting game is due to be released in Spring and is currently now (or it should be) beta testing. This game is holding short for takeoff!

Also if you are really excited about this game check out the cool sounds which are going to be in it. Microsoft have hired professional in sounds who has previously worked on the racing game Forza.

A plane (MD-80) carrying 150 passengers skidded of the icy cold runway and got stuck in mud. Allegiant Air was operating the flight from St Petersburg in Florida to Ohio which suffered severe snow and icy conditions on Monday night. Passengers of the flight reported that the landing was smooth and normal until the plane turned for the taxiway was unable to turn due to ice. Passengers had to wait for 50 minutes until their luggage was bused to the terminals. According to officials the plane took the turn too wide and passengers who were waiting for the next flight stayed in hotels which was paid by the airline. This morning another replacement plane took off for Florida. If the passengers did not want to stay for the night in a hotel they were offered a full refund. No one was injured or hurt by the crash or little incident however the plane may of had damage to the wheels of the plane.

In 2011, the number of fatal airline incidents climbed as they were 11 more accidents than 2010 (with 26). It has been the highest since 2002 when staggeringly the numbers were at 40. However they is some good news about the Aviation crashes because the fatalities is very low and is the second lowest in this decade. So why was this so low? This is because many small aircraft such as turboprops doing short hops, also cargo aircraft and there were only a few accidents which involved larger aircraft such as the 727 crash killing half of the people on board. Technology is getting better on the larger aircraft and I think that the same should happen on more turbo-prop aircraft like the larger planes as well. This would then reduce the amount of crashes as it would be safer to fly but saying that it is still very safe to fly; safer than travel-ling in the car down the road. Plane crashes aren't the thing of the past yet but in few years time computers will eliminate human error and then people will be more comfortable with flying.

Southwest Orders 150 of 737MAX

US Airline 'Southwest' has placed a order for 150 B737 MAX which have been valued at $19 billion and the airline will launch the new aircraft in 2017. Southwest has made one of the biggest orders in the history of Boeing and hopes to replace its 737 (old) fleet of -300, -500, -700 types. Also 58 B737NGX (Next Generation) planes are on order. The MAX competitor is the A320neo which hopes to also have the same economical standards of the MAX however in my opinion, Boeing seem to be ahead of Airbus who is a Europe aircraft manufacture.

Southwest CEO:

"Today's environment demands that we become more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly, and as the launch customer of the Boeing 737 Max, we have accomplished both," said Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly."

Boeing:

"13 customers have now ordered more than 900 737 Max aircraft. On 12 December it set a list price of $77.7 million for the 737 Max -7, $95.2 million for the -8 and $101.7 million for the -9 variant."

Microsoft Flight release date soon?

The brand-new flight simulation game by Microsoft will probably get a release date in December. The release date will probably be in 2012 and it has just been over 1 year since the new game which hopes to change the old previous Flight Simulators was announced. The game will have the 'Microsoft Live' feature which would allow users to join multi player sessions hopefully without being logged out like gamespy did. Photos on the Microsoft website suggest that the planes will be more detailed and be more accurate than older versions of the game, and it is rumored that the game will be using DirectX 11.

Aircraft which we hope to be seeing in the game are: Boeing PT-17, Maule M-7, and Van's RV-6 as these have been featured in the photos which have been uploaded the their website. Flight have also released information such as the specs but nothing more has been mentioned as the game is being kept secret. However if this game was going to be released at Christmas 2011 it would be in competition with xPlane another Flight Simulator which is thought to be 'more' realistic.

Gulfstream ready for G650 service entry

Manufacture Gulfstream who create small business jets is ready to put its long-range G650 on the market. On the 10th of November the plane performed a basic systems flight. Gulfstream hope to deliver over 10 BR725 Rolls-Royce engines which are hope to be completed this year and would be put into service in early 2012. Already meetings have been taking place with customers about the green,economical jet. If the customer goes for the elite option they would get more headroom, more spacious and iPad cabin management application. The plane is to cost 65 million, capacity or 11-18 passengers, 562mph cruise speed, 51,000ft service ceiling and 7,000nm long range cruise. The Cessna citation won't be the best business jet for long.

Red Arrows pilot killed by ejector seat

On Tuesday this week, the RAF special display team 'Red Arrows' lost another member of its team; Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham. The incident happened at the home of the arrows at RAF Scampton and because of this all aircraft have been grounded flying the specific ejector seat which Cunningham died in. They are talks about that the planes with the ejector seat fitted in could be flying by Thursday evening again. The pilot joined the arrows in 2010 and this year (2011) was promoted to 'Red 5; which is a very important position in the red arrows display and aerobatic team. The RAF concluded that the investigation would take months and cases like this are very 'rare'. This is the second tragedy that has happened in the group in the last 3 months with the first one, which was the Bournemouth air crash, the pilot Jon Egging died in that incident.

IAG & Virgin want BMI

British Airways & Iberia (IAG) are now competing with it's rival Virgin Atlantic in a deal with BMI which is owned by German airline Lufthansa which are discussing next week. IAG has apparently discussed a deal but nothing has signed and if the deal is to go ahead it will happen in 2012. The airline want to talk to Virgin Atlantic about the bid they placed this week. Both airlines want to buy the airline BMI, which last year lost €145m/£125m.

So why do they want to buy the airline then? Well, it's simple, they want the 8.5 percent takeoff and landing slots at Heathrow and this would have big impact on BA and Virgin. If the deal goes ahead with IAG the company will have over 50% of London Heathrow Airport, UK.

Why is long haul airline Virgin interested? Virgin are interested in linking up the regional BMI planes to international airports so people who are not near any international can fly in on regional and go on international so it links the flights up making Virgin increase passenger numbers.

The low cost 'tiny' fare airline, BMIBABY based at East Midlands Airport, UK maybe affected with the deal and may have to leave the airport and many jobs will be lost. It will be quite sad to see the airline running from 2002 at it's hub to go. Who ever wins the winning bid. 45 percent and would need the extra 8.5 to expand larger. The spokeswoman for Virgin said 'Virgin is still serious about bidding talks with Lufthansa.'

LOT 767 makes 'no gear' landing

Polish airline LOT had to make a emergency landing at Warsaw with the 767 on the 1st of November 2011. The plane was carrying 230 passengers from New York when the plane had problems with landing gear (wheels) on the approach to Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport in Poland. The pilots did a very good landing without the landing gear and was smoother than a normal landing with gear. The airport or the airline have not given a statement yet however it is thought that no one was injured in the accident/crash. At the airport was some one (maybe plane spotter or some member of the airport) filmed the crash take place and is available on YouTube by clicking here.

Boeing Delivers First 747-8

US aircraft builder Boeing delivered it's first aircraft (excluding the test one of course) to Cathay Pacific cargo yesterday which arrived in Hong Kong. The airline has orders for 10 Boeing 747-8 aircraft and is the 'new' generation of the new 747 compared to the older 747s. The airline hopes it receives 4 more planes before the end of the year. The brand new 747 has better performance, payload, range and is alot more economical in many different ways which would help the cargo part of Cathay to expand on new routes around the world. The plane also has the 'best' engines which are GEnx-2B67 says Boeing.

Fighter jet nose dives and crashes

On Friday in Beijing, China a JH-7 'named flying leopard' nose dived 1 mile away from a Chinese airshow. One pilot is missing and is thought to be 'dead' and another pilot ejected 'one parachute was seen opening'. The plane crashed and killed one pilot and the other with minor injuries but luckily no one on the ground were injured by the accident. Investigations are happening: could of been either mechanical or pilot error which caused the plane to crash into the ground. The JH-7 plane has been in service for 7 years with just over 100 built. Normally plane crashes in China normally don't get into the news or are kept secret like this one but due to the media images of the crash make the crash seem more deadly.

Thomson jet runs on cooking oil

Thomson Airways was the first UK airline to fly with bio fuel on October 6th 2011. The plane took off from Birmingham Airport in the West Midlands carrying 232 passengers for a four hour flight to Arreccife. One of the two Boeing 757 engines had 50% fuel and 50% cooking oil. The flight was fuelled with 6,000 litres cooking oil which cost Thomson around £14,000 which was four times the cost of the normal fuel. However they are some protests about this and FoE bio fuels campaigner said "Bio fuels won't make flying any greener - their production is wrecking rain forests, pushing up food prices and causing yet more climate-changing emissions". Thomson are going to use bio fuel daily from 2012 when the company hopes that the cost of bio fuel would come down.

Plane hit truck before takeoff

American airline US Airways was operating CRJ type plane from Philadelphia airport when the plane was hit by a truck which damaged the wing end whilst doing takeoff checks. Flight 3617 turned around and headed back to the terminal whilst another plane was being prepared and 1 hour later the replacement plane was in the air with passengers. The aircraft was badly damaged on its winglet and the truck which was also badly damaged as well. No passengers or crew were injured during the accident and the spokesman for Philadelphia airport said "no other flights were disrupted".

Other news is that the airline is looking into the A321neo to replace its B757 which it uses on long-haul routes.

P-51 plane crash at Reno air race

The vintage military P-51 mustang crashed in a Reno Air Race in Nevada, USA at around 16:20. Over fifty people are reported to be injured, eight of the fifty are in a critical condition. The pilot Jimmy Leeward was killed and had raced since 1975. Many witnesses ran for their lives and many caught the crash on camera. After the plane had hit the ground. Smoke and debrie was everywhere and described by one witness as "falling to my feet". The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) are now investigating but it will be hard because the plane is unlikely to have an black box. Other Reno air races have been canceled until further investigation on what caused the crash.

This plane crash was the second vintage plane crash in 24 hours.
UPDATE: The cause of the crash is now said to be airframe failure.

Passenger tries to open door at 36,000ft

A passenger of Thomson Airways flight 1269 from Majorca (SP) to New Castle (UK) tried to open the door at 36,000ft. The plane was 'packed' with tourists: many of them were families with children. The cabin crew restrained the man who was in his early 20s whilst the pilots diverted the plane to Gatwick. Thomson Airways spokesman said "we would like to reassure customers that it would not have been possible for this passenger to open the aircraft door while the aircraft was in the air".

Many witnesses said that the man who was trying to open the door said 'we are just on a simulator.”

The flight landed successfully and safely and Gatwick and arrived at New Castle (UK) 3+ hours late.

Jet2 plane engine bursts into flames

Jet2 (one of the UKs low cost airlines) was flying from Ibiza to Manchester with 186 passengers. Just after takeoff the engine caught fire forcing the crew to land at Majorca. The crew shut down the number two engine (right) after it repeatedly backfired. 80 frighting minutes later the plane landed safely. Jet2 said that "flight LS170 was diverted after a technical problem" and "there are no reports of serious injury". In my opinion the crew should of returned to Ibiza rather than Majorca.

Red Arrow plane crash near Bournemouth

The Red Arrows which are based at RAF Scampton, today were performing an airshow near Bournemouth Airport. At around 13:50pm the Hawk T1 plane (which was being flown by Jon Egging) was too low during the right turn and skidded along the riverbank and then crashed into the river. Shortly after the crash. Many helicopters arrived at the scene trying to help. The Police said later on that the "pilot was found dead at the scene".

Singapore Airlines orders eight more B777-300ERs

Singapore Airlines (which is also known short as SIA) will order eight more Boeing 777-300ERs to extend the airlines routes in the next few years. The airline would use these extra planes on long or medium haul routes and I think personally that the airline has brought these planes because of its range, economical and the capacity of passengers. The planes will be powered by GE90 engines and will have 3 class configuration. The 8 new planes will join the other 19 planes of that type in their fleet already and the order has been valued at the shock price of $2.3 billion (list price).

Thai Airlines to retire 50 aircraft in the next 6 years

Thai Airways International has plans to decommissioned 50 of its fleet over the next few years. The airline will be removing A306, B744, A345, A346, ATR-72, B772, A333 and also 9 734s which are on lease currently, will be leaving the fleet of Thai. The airline had plans for a retrofit but as the planes will be decommission within the next 6 years time there is no point of spending money because it will cost them and besides they hope to sell all of it's fleet anyway. Thai has orders for 8 Boeing 787s and 12 Airbus A350s costing 3.8 USD billion.

Thai's spokeswoman said that they are selling the aircraft "due to to fleet planning changes and the availability of leased aircraft".

Qatar Airways may scrap A350 order

Airbus A350 customer Qatar Airways has warned Airbus that it may have to scrap its order if the recent unveiled redesign fails to provide greater performance than the Boeing 777-300ER (ER meaning extensive range). Airbus unviled its revamped A350-1000 at the start of the Paris air show (a few days ago) and changes were made on a more powerful Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine and a revised wing which add a 400nm (740km) to the range of the aircraft. The revamp has made the expected delivery date mid-2017 and they have raised the price of the plane by 9 million. "Airbus is not listening to us - I don't think they've achieved anything with this investment," said the Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker.

Solenta Antonov 26 ditched in the sea

An Antonov 26 which was owned by Solenta Aviation and was operating behalf of DHL with the registration TR-LIE, was performing a freight flight from Port Gentil to Libreville with 4 crew members. They needed to ditch about 3km short of Libreville's runway 34 due to technical failure around 10:30L. All of the crew members had been injured and were taken to a local hospital. Witnesses on the ground reported the both engines were not running (turning).

Fuel system caused PC-9 to crash

On the 18th of May, an Royal Australian Air Force Pilatus PC-9 crashed due to a loss of engine power. They have identified the problem, which was a fuel system component failure and the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) are working with maintenance contractors and the engine maker (Pratt & Whitney) which powered this type of Pilatus. When the issue has been fully identified, all of the PC-9 fleet will be in the air again. The two crew members involved both survived and have been released from hospital.

Malaysia Airlines today announced that it would intend to join the Oneworld group and hopes it will be part of that alliance before 2013. The airlines CEO said '"With the world airline industry increasingly focused on alliances, we have carried out careful analysis of the options now available to Malaysia Airlines. The time is clearly right for our company to join one of the global service groups and Oneworld is clearly the best option for us,". Austrailian airline Qantas is sponsoring the airline (MAS) entry into the alliance. Oneworld is the best airlines of the world and the other airlines in the asia-pacific are Cathay Pacific and Royal Jordanian.

Ash clouds likely to affect UK flights

The Icelandic Volcano called Grimvotn erupted at 19:25 on May 21st 2011. A danger is present to jet aircraft and the ash cloud has been reported above FL300 and they is an danger zone which is FL550. Iceland's main airport has suspended all IFR operations on yesterday and all the flights today have been cancelled. Scientist predict that it is unlikely it will cause as much air space eruption as Eyjapfoll (last years eruption).
According to CFMU. The ash cloud would start to affect Scotland by Tuesday May 24th and possibly western France and northern Spain by Thursday if intensity of eruption continued at current levels.

First solar plane takes to the air!

Yesterday, a solar energy plane made it's first international flight powered by just the suns cells! This shows the potential for pollution free air travel. The plane took off from an airfield in western Switzerland on Friday morning and it landed at Brussels airport after a long 13 hour flight. The plane is called 'The Solar Impule' and the project began in 2003 and was estimated to take 10 years and had an massive budget of 90 million euros. The plane needs 12,000 solar cells to fly and with an average speed of 44mph it's not super fast but it's enough if you want to fly for fun. I personally think it's a good idea but the problem is the speed of the plane. They are building a larger prototype which will fly around the world in 2013.

The cargo company DHL has acquired 13 Airbus Airbus A300-600s which are going to be converted into freightes by EADS. The aircraft will replace the older A300s (-200) and will be in the fleet by late 2013. The aircraft which have a 49t payload and burn 20% less fuel than the earlier A300s.
Managing director network operations of DHL Express Europe said that "that it would be a big leap ahead towards our goal of reducing our carbon emissions by 30% by 2020".

An aircraft operated by Sunwest Aviation slipped off a taxiway early on Thursday morning at the Calgary International Airport. The airline said it was only carrying cargo and was not carrying any passengers and they was no injuries to the flight crew of the Sunwest Plane. The accident involved a Fairchild Metro 23 and occurred at about 6 a.m and reports are that the plane got back on the tarmac and didn't affect any flights arriving or departing. In the area, the weather conditions were poor all morning and was just wet mushy snow which fell early hours in the morning.The residents only saw rain and little amount of snow but if it would of snowed more, this accident would been a hole lot worse but luckily no one was injured in this accident.

The American low-cost airline Southwest is grounding over 80 Boeing 737 after a hole was discovered in a Southwest jet. The airline is pending immediate inspection of all the 737's in their fleet. Southwest say that it has 'decided to keep a subset of its Boeing 737 fleet out of the flying schedule' and it would do 'aggressive inspection effort'. They also say that 81+ aircraft are affected by the checks and inspections will be carried out in a few days. The airline has taken action after one of its B737-300 which was performing flight WN812 between Phoenix and Sacramento diverted to Yuma yesterday because of a loss of cabin pressure. After the plane had landed they noticed that they was a hole at the top of the plane and only 2 people (passengers and crew) were treated with minor injuries but this has happened before a few years ago!

Airbus signs bio fuel agreement with Iberia

The Aircraft company Airbus has been entered into an agreement with Iberia and the Government to look at the possibility of producing a bio fuel production chain which would result in bio fuel which would be used by commercial airlines in Spain. Airbus say that this might start to begin in 2014 but earlier in this month Airbus signed a different agreement which was similar to this one. They this time want to create a facility in Romania and produce aviation bio fuel which is from the camelina crop. All we know is that they are going to make at least one of these 'biofuel' facilities and are trying also to secure projects in Asia and Africa and they aim to make another announcement before next year, so we might see these Airbus 'biofuel' facilities popping up quite rapidly.

Lufthansa unveils Miami as A380 destination

The German airline 'Lufthansa' today reviled the sixth destination for the Airbus A380 which are on order (I think). They announced that the Airbus A380 will replace the existing Boeing 747-400 service from Miami in Florida to Frankfurt and the A380 will be placed on this route on the 10th of June. Lufthansa already serves other locations with the A380 like Tokyo, Beijing, Johannesburg and New York JFK. They will also add a A380 to the San Francisco route which will happen on the 10th of May 2011.

Travel Service plane 'veered' off runway'

A Travel Service Boeing 737-800 was landing at Lajes in Portugal at around 08:27. When the wheels touched down, the plane veered to the runway edge and had impact with a number of runway edge lights before coming to standstill. The airport was closed for 4 hours whilst the runway lights received repairs and other flights which were due to 'Lajes' diverted to a near by airport. The Boeing 737-800 registration was OK-TVF and passengers were put onto OK-TVB after the fuel stop at 'Lajes'.

Fokker 70 Wheel Incident

An Austrian Airlines Fokker 70 which was performing flight OS-114 from Munich to Vienna with a total of 60 people on board was cleared for takeoff and just after the wheels became airborne, the right-hand side wheel came off. The Air Traffic Controller alerted the crew and the crew of the aircraft decided to return to Munich for a low approach. The ATC confirmed that the plane had lost its right-hand wheel, and after the plane landed (which landed safely on 08R) the plane stopped on taxiway Bravo 10. Other flight were cancelled and passengers were rebooked onto other flights and both runways were closed during this event and planes already taxiing for takeoff were asked to return to their gates.

A Flugfelag Air Iceland de Havilland Dash 8-100 was performing flight NY-223 from Reykjavik in Iceland to Nuuk in Greenland and had a total of 34 people on board. The registration of the aircraft was TF-JMB and the plane was originally scheduled to fly on the day before but due to bad weather conditions, the plane went the next day. The plane veered right off runway 23 and struck a very rocky embankment with extreme gusting wind conditions around 13:00. No injuries occurred but the aircraft had received fatal damage to the nose, engines and gear.

Etihad cancels orders for 787

Today, on the 4th of March 2011. Ethiad canceled 4 Boeing 787 planes however they still have orders for 31 787-8 dreamliners on order but Boeing has had alot of aircraft cancellations. Data on the Boeing Orders website show that Air Berlin canceled two 737 orders but the good side is in February, Boeing sold ten Boeing 777 aircraft, making around $1.5 billion. Now the company has 55 new orders and 38 cancelations till February of this year but sadly now the total of orders by Boeing just stands at 17 jets.

Manchester building new control tower

Manchester airport has plans to replace it's old tower with a new tower which would be the second tallest in the UK when finished. The brand-new control tower is due to open in 2013 and will stand at 60 meters tall and will be situated alongside the northern fire station. The tower will have views over the whole airport but runway 2 will be out of sight so cameras will be used so controllers can see the runway. The existing control tower is above Terminal 1 is now 40 years old and needs badly modernising and greater height so controllers can see planes. It is not yet known what the offices below will be used for, but hopefully it would be used to view aircraft movements if considered.

Boston Flights get hit by lightning

About 2 hours ago, on the 19th February 2011. 1 passenger plane which was a Airbus A320-200 registered N585JB and owned by jetBlue was strucked by lighting when descending through 5,000ft. The pilots smelt smoke in the cockpit and landed safely on runway 27 at Boston Logan Airport with no fatalities. However another jetBlue plane which was also landing at about the same time was also struck by lighting, luckily that plane landed safely too.

Boeing today rolls out the 1000th 767 which was painted in ANA colours. Many employees who helped create the 767, came to watch the roll-out. The airline ordered more after delays on the 787 order that they placed last year. Boeings' CEO said that 'As we salute the 1,000th 767, the next 767 is already being built in a new bay where we can produce airplanes much more efficiently for years to come. We hope many of the new 767s will become U.S. Air Force tankers built right here'.

The crew tried to go around but failed and impacted a near by village called Terman. 78 passengers have been confirmed dead which of 77 were identified however 27 passengers are in hospital in a critical condition. The weather on the night of the crash was bad with fog and thick snow, the aircraft's registration was: EP-IRP.

Pilot's coffee spill triggers hijack alert

An United Airlines pilot was blamed for setting of an alert for a hijack because he spilt coffee on radio equipment. The plane diverted to Toronto Canada and landed safely and the US federal administration said ''that the pilot squawked a 7500 code by acident''. An United Airlines spokesmen said ''A second aircraft took passengers back to Chicago from Toronto, allowing them to board another flight for Frankfurt'' The incident is being examined by safety officials and the 241 passengers are hopefully now in Frankfurt.

B787 flight tests resume after electrical fire

About 6 weeks ago, they was a electrical fire on board a 787. The company found the cause and described it as a 'Small Unknown Object' that was in the electrical arc. The company now hopes the problem has now vanished by installing a new updated power distribution system software. Tests have now been resumed and Boeing are under pressure at this moment because the aircraft has been delayed 6x since it was first announcement of the 787.

2 engines out of the 3 engines went on a TU-154 aircraft yesterday, and the plane returned back to Moscow. The landing was hard and the weather was very poor with rain and freezing temperatures another dramatic thing was going to happen. An Air India Express 737 was cruising when the captain went to the laboratories and the co-pilot was in the planes cockpit alone. The 25 year old wanted to adjust his seat forward so he did but accidentally he pushed the control column forward making the 737 descend -7,000ft in a 26 degrees nose dive. The captain was in the laboratories at the time and the co-pilot could not control the plane or open the cockpit door. The captain used a secret code to gain access to the cockpit and then he took control and he told the passengers eating their meal that they went through an Air Pocket which is a turbulent wind which sends the plane down and can be hard to control the plane in this situation.

An IL-76 owned by Sunway which is a Russian company was performing cargo flight MGC-4412 from Karachi to Khartoum. The plane took off and struggled to get a steady climb, the Air Traffic Controller saw an engine fire and tried to return back to the airport but failed. The plane destroyed 20 buildings and killed 4 people on the ground, the planes registration was 4L-GNI.

Delta Airlines plane encounters an engine problem

A Delta Airlines 767-300 was flying from Atlanta to Los Angeles with 262 when after about 10 minutes after departure at FL190 the crew reported to ATC that they needed to return due to an engine problem. At East Midlands they gave a parcel the all clear to go to its next location, Philadelphia. In Philadelphia they found that it was suspicious and examined it and they found it was explosive. All the flights going to the America by UPS are being searched and the religious locations in Chicago are being warned and are looking out for any suspicious people. The registration of the aircraft was N330UP and took off from East Midlands at 03:30 on the 29th of October 2010.

60 year old trainee pilot crashes into two parked cars

A 60 year old trainee pilot crashed into two cars today at Tampa North Aero Park in Florida. It was his 2nd solo flight and he reported that he had problems during takeoff. The plane could not stop in time and over ran the runway and hit two parked cars. Eyewitness Alayne Perkins herd a loud bang when the plane crashed and she thought it was 'a big bird hitting the door'. The plane had 35 gallons of fuel and was very lucky that the plane did not catch fire during impact. No one was injured during this incident.

Top 5 tips from me on how to improve your Flight Simulator X frame rates. Please note this is use for normal 'free flight' and not multi player.

1.Go to Settings on FSX and on the far right should be some options (other settings). Click on the bottom one (scenery library) and turn off all the scenery which you will not fly across on the flight you are going to fly.

2. Make sure your 'Target frame rate' is set to unlimited. You can get here by clicking on Customize > Graphics and it should be on the right.

3. Next (if you not on some very good computer) on the same page turn off 'Anti-aliasing'.

4. Lower your screen resolution which is also on that 'Graphics' page which you should be still on.

5. Lower down other settings on the other tabs such as scenery, aircraft, and the big ones which you don't really need are weather and traffic.

Air New Zealand Q300 - Crash Lands

The Air Nelson Q300 made a crash landing, after it experienced a nose gear failure. All the 49 passengers and crew were not injured and the plane diverted to Woodbourne Airport after bad weather.The pilots did not know they was a problem until they put the landing gear down for landing. RUSSIAN PLANE LANDS IN FOREST!

A child fell on to the tarmac, whilst he and his family boarded the plane. She went up the boarding steps, and they was a gap between the plane and the boarding steps on the left and right side. She fell through the gap at Stansted airport in London, United Kingdom. Luckily she escaped with minor injuries and was air lifted to hospital after the incident had happened.

AA Flight Attendant Flys a B767

De-Luna who was the flight attendant who was aged 61, used to fly small Cessna aircraft. But in a in-flight emergency when the pilot was sick with stomach flu, the flight attendant came in the B767 cockpit and they both landed safely at Chicago O' Hare Airport. The pilot made quite a few to the toilet. The pilot moved him in to the jump seat. The flight was from San Francisco to Chicago.

A small aircraft which was a Cessna 180. Landed on a motorway with 3 lanes. The pilot chose a spot which was not busy. Only one person on board the aircraft and that was the pilot. They was not fatal injuries and the small plane is being towed a way by a truck.

Jet2.com opens a base at East Midlands Airport

The low cost airline Jet2.com has opened a base at East Midlands (EGNX). Creating the airline hub will make 250 jobs free at East Midlands and will be more than 130,000 seats a year. They will be operating Boeing 737's to Boeing 757's going to Europe destinations. The airline wishers to extend the routes to places like Turkey , Portugal and Bodrum in turkey.

This year. They has been loads of flights been canceled to volcanic ash from Iceland. Easy Jet are trying out a system that can tract volcanic ash from 62 miles away. As they lost 72 million pounds due to volcanic ash. The use of infra-red will alert the pilots when they is volcanic particles in the air. In the next two months. Airbus will be operating and doing tests on behalf of Easy Jet.

A Kingfisher plane landing at Mumbai Airport had to go-around due to a spice jet plane got stuck on the runway. The kingfisher plane landed safely after a 2nd approach. No one was injured and could of had a fatal crash.

The airline Emirates plan to recruit 700 pilots in the next 18 months. Emirates want to have more routes and more passengers which means they will get a higher income. By the end of this year they plan to have 250 and in 2011 they are wishing for 500. Which is double the amount of this year.

Rolls Royce = New engine type?

Rolls Royce are building a new engine called the ' Open rotor'. They scarped the word ' Turbo Prop' because they wanted it to be different to other engines. It will replace normal aircraft engines for a more 'eco' friendly ones which will be quiet and more fuel efficient. Aircraft designers are trying to find out where the engines will fit the best. It is more unlikely that bird strikes will happen.

Baghdad's first comecial flight in 20 years

The Iraqi Airways flight was due to depart nine days before. But the volcanic ash stopped the plane from taking to the skies. When the ash was clear it took off and landed in London in Gatwick. It took 10 hours and was a 737 but it had to stop at Sweden for checks and had the all clear to Gatwick.

Dust/Ash cloud over Europe causes aircraft operations to a holt

In Iceland , a volcano erupted and it 'Dust' flew into the air at about 20,000 feet. If you have watched Air crash investigation you have probably seen the episode when speed bird (British Airways 747) goes through a heavy ash cloud and the damage it cause to the aircraft is just fatal! Only emergency flights and general aviation which fly low are aloud to fly.
